The 30-year-old Danish midfield warrior is out of coach Fabio Capello's plans.
And the chances of Gravesen getting back into Real's good books are nil after he traded blows with Brazilian striker Robinho at their Austrian HQ. But that won't deter Pompey from chasing Gravesen, seen as an alternative to Celtic's Stilian Petrov.

Olympique Lyon fullback Eric Abidal admits he couldn't turn down an offer from Arsenal or Barcelona.
DiarioSport says Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has approached Lyon this week about the availability of Abidal and Florent Malouda.
Abidal is seen as a replacement for Ashley Cole, while Malouda could succeed Real Madrid target Jose Reyes.
"I am happy at Lyon," said Abidal, "where I have three years of my contract left. Nevertheless, with some great clubs like Barcelona or Arsenal it is not possible to say no to them. "If a player wants to leave, I do not see how somebody can stop that."

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is set to win the race for Olympique Marseille winger Franck Ribery.
The Sun says Wenger intends to use part of the £20 million raised from Ashley Cole's sale to Chelsea this week to land the France international.
Ribery joined Marseille only last summer after walking out on Turkish giants Galatasaray following a contract wrangle.
Manchester United and Lyon were also hoping to sign him. But Thierry Henry has helped persuade his French team-mate to plump for the Gunners.
Ribery's arrival will be a major coup for Wenger as he tries to build his squad for their first season at the Emirates Stadium. Marseille dropped Ribery from their squad for yesterday's 0-0 draw with Sedan, indicating he will soon be on his way.
